Anderson Hays Cooper, born June 3, 1967, is an American broadcast journalist from Vanderbilt. He is the primary anchor of the CNN news broadcast program Anderson Cooper 360deg. Cooper is also an CBS News correspondent for 60 Minutes. Cooper graduated from Yale University in 1989 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Cooper began his journeys all over the world, filming footage from war-torn areas for Channel One News. Cooper was hired by ABC News as a correspondent in 1995. He was soon offered more positions across the network, working for only a few months as a co-anchor, reality game show host, as well as a fill-in morning talk show host.In 2001, Cooper joined CNN, which gave him the show he created, Anderson Cooper 360deg, in 2003. He is the show's host since. Cooper gained a following for his on-the-ground reporting of news breaking events, with his coverage of Hurricane Katrina which caused his popularity to rise dramatically. For his coverage of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Cooper received a National Order of Honour and Merit an award that is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the Haitian government. Anderson Live, his syndicated daytime talk program, was also hosted by Cooper from September 2011 to May 2013.
