Carrie Marie Underwood, born March 10, 1983 is an American country artist. Her fame grew after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. She was the first country singer to make it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and the only solo artist who reached the top position on the Hot 100 in 2000s. Some Hearts, her debut album, was accompanied by the pop-punk singles "Jesus Take the Wheel" and "Before He Cheats," making it the most popular debut album by a female solo artist in country music's history. She was awarded three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist. Carnival Ride (2007), her second studio album had one of the biggest opening weeks ever by any female artist. The album also received two Grammy Awards. Her third studio album, "Play On", was preceded in part by "Cowboy Casanova", a single that featured one of the highest single-week moves on the Hot 100. She also received two Grammy Awards for the fourth album she released, Blown Away (2012).
