 John Legend was born December 28, 1978, as John Roger Stephens. He is an American musician, singer, and record producer. John Legend began his career by working behind the scenes, playing piano on Lauryn Hill's "Everything is Everything", and performing uncredited guest performances on Jay-Z's "Encore" and Alicia Keys's "You Don't Know My Name". Kanye West signed his name to GOOD Music, and he released his debut album, Get Lifted (2004). The album made it to the top ten on the Billboard 200, and earned the artist eight nominations. Once Again (2006) was his second studio album , and spawned "Save Room" and "Save Room," which later became his second album to be a top ten hit. The third album Evolver (2008)'s leading single, "Green Light", featuring Andre 3000, reached number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also certified platinum by RIAA. He also released John Legend: Live From Philadelphia in June of 2008.
