Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz (17 February 1948 from 17 February 1948 to 28 September 2019,), known professionally as Jose Jose, was a Mexican singer and actor. Jose was born into a musical family and started his career in music as a teenager performing on guitar as well as singing in a serenade. Jose Jose joined a jazz and bossa Nova band in which he played doublebass and bass. In the 1970s, he became a solo artist. He demonstrated his talent as a tenor singer by delivering the powerful rendition of "El Triste" at a Latin music Festival in Mexico City in 1970. The song helped to climb the Latin charts during that decade. After gaining recognition as an eminent balladeer, his vocals garnered universal critical acclaim from musicians as well as the media.In the 80s, following his joining Ariola Records, Jose rose to international fame as one of the world's most popular and skilled Latin artists. His 1983 album Secretos has sold more than twenty-five million copies. With many world-wide hits, he has received numerous Grammy nominations and recognition worldwide.
