Matthew Burton Brown (born January 10 1981) is an American mixed martial artist fighting in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. A professional fighter since 2004 Brown was one of the contestants in the 7th season of The Ultimate Fighter television series and holds the record for the most knockouts recorded in UFC Welterweight history.Brown was born and was raised in Jamestown, Ohio. After being home schooled for the duration of two years, Brown enrolled in Greeneview High School where he struggled to find friends. In a small town , with no prospects beyond an unpaid manufacturing job as a machinist Brown became frustrated and turned to alcohol and drugs. In the beginning, he was addicted to meth, often consuming cocaine, and often got involved in fights at gatherings. In his early twenties, he had survived a heroin overdose (which earned him the nickname "The Immortal"), was homeless, and been in prison.
