Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson, born Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, is an Australian comedian singer, writer, and producer. After graduating from the Australian Theatre for Young People in 2003, Wilson began appearing as Toula in the SBS comedy series Pizza (2003-2007 and 2019) and then appeared on the sketch comedy series The Wedge (2006-2007). She also wrote, directed and starred in the musical comedy show Bogan Pride (2008). Wilson was a comic in the American comedy films Bridesmaids (both in 2011), and Struck by Lightning (both in 2012). Variety named Wilson one of the "Top Ten Comics to Look for in 2013". She was Fat Amy, the character of Pitch Perfect's musical comedy series from 2012 until 2017. The show earned her numerous award nominations and wins such as the MTV Movie Award (Best Breakthrough Performance) and the Teen Choice Award (Best Movie Actress). In 2016, she appeared in two films How to Be Single and Grimsby.
