Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson (born Melanie Elizabeth Bownds; [note 1 2 March 1980) is an Australian actress, comedian and writer. She is also a singer, writer, and producer. After graduation in 2003 from the Australian Theatre for Young People, Wilson started appearing in SBS' comedy series Pizza (2003-2007 and in 2019) followed by The Wedge (2006-2007). She produced, wrote and starred in the musical comedy show Bogan Pride (2008). Wilson was a comedian in American comedy films Bridesmaids (both in 2011) and Struck by Lightning (both in 2012). Variety named Wilson as one of the "Top Ten Comics to Look Out For in 2013". She played Fat Amy in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect film series (2012-2017), which earned her several award nominations and wins, including the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, as well as the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress. She starred in the films of 2016 How to Be Single, and Grimsby.
