Robyn Rihanna FentyNH (/ri'aen@(/ri'aen@ (listen) ree-AN -@;[n 1] was born 20 February 1988) is a Barbadian actor, singer, and businesswoman. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and was raised there. She was a candidate for Evan Rogers, an American record producer who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. She was signed to Def Jam in 2005 and quickly gained acclaim after the release of her debut two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) as well as A Girl Like Me (2006). Both were heavily influenced by Caribbean music and made it to the top ten spots on the US Billboard 200 charts. Rihanna's first Grammy Award was won for her chart-topping hit song "Umbrella" that catapulted Rihanna into international fame. Her subsequent studio album Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011 and 2012), she continued to blend R&B as well as pop and dance genres.
