Chaka Khan

 Chaka Khan, a famous American musician and singer with a $30 million net worth is an extremely successful artist. Chaka Khan is often called the "Queen of Funk-Soul". Khan has been awarded 10 Grammy Awards in her career, which spans over forty many years. She was born Yvette Maria Stevens, born on the 23rd of March, 1953. Khan was raised by a creative and bohemian-style family in Chicago, Illinois. Khan is the eldest of five children, born to Charles Stevens, a beatnik as well as Sandra Coleman. Khan began to become an avid blues and rhythm fan from the beginning of her life. at the age of 11 She founded a girl band called The Crystalettes. As a teen, Khan attended several civil right rallies, and later joined the Black Panther Party after befriending the activist as well as fellow Chicago local Fred Hampton in 1967. The name she was given to her was Chaka Adunne A. Hodarhi Karifi aged 13 by Yoruba Baba. Khan dropped out of the school in 1969, after having left her band the Black Panthers. She started performing in small groups in the Chicago area.She began to make waves to the scene of music during the 1970s, as the frontwoman and the focal point of the group Rufus who were praised for their distinct R&B and funk sound. They attracted the attention of Ike Turner who flew them to L.A. to record at his music studio. Turner was looking for Khan to be an Ikette and recorded alongside him. She refused. The first album of the group, entitled "Self-Titled" came out in 1973. It included hits including "Whoever’s Thrilling You," and "Feel good."
