She is a American martial artist and fighter that competes in the UFC. Miesha Tate was the former Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight champion. Tate also earned a Silver medal at the FILA wrestling championships. Tate was born in Tacoma in Washington in 1986, competed for the school's boys' team. She won the 2005 female state champion at her high school after which she went to compete in the World Team Trials. After the high school years, Tate attended Central Washington University in Washington, where one of her competitors named Rosalia Watson, encouraged her to sign up for the mixed martial arts club. Tate was officially accepted into Central Washington University's mixed martial art club soon after signing for the club. The club officially incorporated her into the Ultimate Fighting Championship in February 2013. Tate's double leg takesdowns are famous.
