After a period of 6 months in hospital when a young child, she was eventually diagnosed with arthritis rheumatoid. He became famous for his skating prowess with Denis Samokhin, a compatriot. They competed at the Junior World Championships in two different years, placing eighth in 1993 and seventh in 1994. The pair briefly collaborated with Maxim Kachanov. Later, the pair finished fifth in the Goodwill Games. The partnership was equally successful, as the pair took home the Finlandia Trophy on two occasions and competed at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating.
