American actor Amy Lou Adams was born on August 20 1974. Her dramatic and comedic roles, she has been featured three times in annual rankings of the top-paid actresses around the world. Her awards include two Golden Globe Awards and nominations for six Academy Awards and seven British Academy Film Awards. She made her film debut in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), where she played in a support part. She made guest appearances in television and took on "mean girl" roles in feature films with low budgets. Her first appearance was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Could (2002). However she was out of work for a period of one year. Her breakthrough came in 2005 when she portrayed a witty, pregnant woman in Junebug (2005). The independent comedy-drama earned her the first Academy Award nomination.
