Benjamin Geza Affleck[b] was born on 15 August 1972. He is an American actor, film maker, and director. His awards include two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and the Volpi Cup, the principal award presented to actors during the Venice Film Festival. When he was a kid actor, he was a part of the PBS educational program The Voyage of the Mimi (1984-1988). Later, he played in the independent coming-of age comedy Dazed and Confused (1993) and various Kevin Smith films, including Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999). Affleck gained wider recognition after he and his childhood friend Matt Damon won the Golden Globe as well as the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the script of Good Will Hunting (1997) in which they also appeared in. Affleck then became a leading man in studio films like the film about disasters Armageddon (1998) and the war drama Pearl Harbor (192001), as well the action films The Sum of All Fears (both 2002).
