Danica Patrick

Danica Sue Patrick (/daenIk@born on March 25 1982), is an American former professional racing driver. Danica Sue Patrick is the most accomplished female in the history of American open-wheel racing. Her victory in the 2008 Indy Japan 300 is the only female winner in an IndyCar Series race. Patrick was born to a family of working-class people in Beloit (Wisconsin) and started karting when she was ten years old. She won her class at the World Karting Association Grand National Championship three times over the early 1990s. With the consent of her parents she quit high school and emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1998 to pursue a career. Patrick competed in Formula Vauxhall before moving to the United States in 2001 because of a lack in funding. In 2002, she raced in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick later raced in the Toyota Atlantic Series for the following two seasons. She placed third in the championship standings of the 2004 season. This was when she became first woman to be crowned the winner of the series. She was named the IndyCar Series rookie of the year 2005, and took home the Indianapolis 500. She continued to improve in the following two years by joining Rahal Letterman Racing in 2006 and later Andretti Green Racing in 2007. Patrick was sixth in the driver's standings after winning in Japan.
