Danica Patrick

Danica Sue Patrick (/daenIk@/, born March 25, 1982) is an American former professional race driver. Danica Sue Patrick is among the top-performing American female open-wheel racer. The victory she won in Indy Japan 300 in 2008 is her only IndyCar Series win. Patrick was born into a working class family in Beloit (Wisconsin) and began Karting when she was 10 years old. She won her class at the World Karting Association Grand National Championship three times consecutively in the early 1990s. With the consent of her parents she dropped out of high school and relocated to the United Kingdom in 1998 to pursue a career. Patrick competed in Formula Vauxhall before moving to the United States in 2001 because of a lack of funds. In 2002, she raced in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick later raced in the Toyota Atlantic Series for the following two seasons. Her best effort was third in the championship standings of the 2004 season where she became the first woman to achieve a pole place in the race.
