Jessica Michelle Chastain, born March 24, 1977 was an American actress. She is known for her role in films that feature feminist themes, she has earned many awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in 2012.Chastain discovered a love for acting from an early age and made her professional stage debut in 1998 , playing Shakespeare's Juliet. After completing her acting studies at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent-holding deal by John Wells. She was a frequent guest star in several television series that included Law & Order: Trial by Jury. She also took on roles in the stage productions of Anton Chekhov's drama The Cherry Orchard in 2004 and Oscar Wilde's tragedy Salome in 2006.After making her debut in film at age 31 in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain was able to make her debut in the year 2011 with six films, including the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). She was awarded Academy Award nominations for playing an aspirational socialite in the period drama The Help (2011) and as a CIA analyst in the action thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012).
