 Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz, 17 February 1948 - 28 Sept 2019 was a Mexican actor and singer. Jose was born to a family of musicians and began his musical career as a teenager playing guitar, and performing in serenade. Jose Jose joined a jazz and bossa Nova group in which he played bass and doublebass. In the 1970s he became a solo artist. He showed his skills as a tenor vocalist with a powerful performance of "El Triste" at an Latin music Festival in Mexico City in 1970. The song helped his rise up the Latin charts during that decade. While he was balladeer, his performance was praised by all musicians as well as the media.In the 1980s, following his signing with Ariola Records, Jose rose to international fame as one of the world's most renowned and gifted Latin singers. The album he released in 1983 Secretos was a massive success with sales of more than 25 million copies. The album was nominated for a number of Grammy Awards and has been acclaimed throughout the world with numerous international hit songs. He sold out in venues like Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. His music was also heard in non-Spanish-speaking nations like Russia, Israel, and Japan. [2] He earned a name for himself as an actor and was a part of films like Gavilan o Paloma (1985), and Perdoname Todo (1996).
