Tulsi Gabbard

Tulsi Gabbard, /'tlsi'gaeb@rd/ was born on the 12th of April 1981. She is an American politician and United States Army Reserve officer. Gabbard was the first Hindu member of Congress and the first Samoan American voting member of Congress. She was a candidate to run for Democratic nomination in 2020's United States presidential election,before leaving the party and becoming an independent in October 2022.In 2002, Gabbard was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives at the age of 21. Gabbard was a member of Hawaii's Army National Guard's field medical division from 2004 until 2005. She was also a platoon leader for the Army Military Police in Kuwait from 2008 2009 to 2009. As a member, Gabbard was vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), from 2013 to 2016. She resigned in order to support Bernie Sanders' 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.
