Karen Sheila Gillan, /'gIl@n/ was born 28 November 1987, and is an actress from Scotland. Scottish actress. Her work on British television and film gained her recognition, specifically for her character Amy Pond, the primary companion of Doctor Who's Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who (2010-2013), where she was nominated and received numerous awards. Her first film roles included Ally in the film thriller Outcast (2010) as well as Jane Lockhart in the romantic comedy film Not Another Happy Ending (2013). In Britain she also appeared on stage, first performing in John Osborne's show Inadmissible Evidence (2011) before making her Broadway debut with Time to Act (2013).
