Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, born on the 25th of October, 1984 was an American performer, songwriter, and TV host. Her impact on pop music and her distinctive style are well-known. Vogue called her the "Queen of Camp". "[aShe began pursuing a career in gospel music when she was 16, Perry released her debut album, Katy Hudson, under Red Hill Records in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. When she was 17, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue secular music. She later adopted the stage name of "Katy Perry", which was her mother's maiden name. She recorded an album titled Fingerprints when she was signed to Columbia Records, but was dropped before signing to Capitol Records.She gained notoriety through One of the Boys (2008), a pop rock record containing her debut single "I Kissed a Girl" and follow-up single "Hot and Cold" which climbed to the top three spots on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 respectively. The disco-influenced pop album Teenage Dream (2010) spawned five U.S. number one singles--"California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T. ", and "Last Friday Night(T.G.I.F. )"--becoming a first and only solo female artist to do so. Teenage Dream is being reissued.
