Stana Katic (/'sta:n@ 'kaetIk/; born 26 April 1978) is an American-Canadian actress and producer. Katic was born in Hamilton (Ontario), Canada. In her description of her ethnicity she has stated "My parents are Serbs from Croatia. We're from Dalmatian that is where on the earth we were born. My family includes Croat, Serb, and a few Montenegrin members. Her father is from Vrlika in Croatia and her mother comes originally from Sinj, Croatia. Katic relocated to Illinois with her family. The following years saw her travelling between Canada and the United States. After finishing West Aurora High School in 1996, Katic enrolled to study International Relations as well as pre-law at the University of Toronto's Trinity College and then at The Theatre School at DePaul University, where she studied for an MFA in acting from 2000 to 2002. Katic studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school. Katic has one sister and four brothers.
