 Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio (/di'kzprioU/; Italian: [di'ka:prjo] born on November 11, 1974) is an American actor and film producer. Famous for his role as a leading actor in biopics and period films He has been the recipient of numerous accolades which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and three Golden Globe Awards. In 2019 the films he has made have earned over $7.2 billion globally and he's placed eight times in annual lists of the highest-paid actors.Born in Los Angeles, DiCaprio began his career in the mid 1980s, appearing in television commercials. He played recurring roles on television shows like Parenthood in the 1990s. His first film role was that of Tobias Wolff, an author in This Boy's Life (1993). He was 19 years old when he won critical acclaim for his portrayal of a boy with disabilities that affect his development in the film What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993).
