Ana Lila Downs Sanchez, Ana Lila Downs Sanchez, a Mexican singer and songwriter was born on 9 September 1968. She performs her own compositions and the works of others in a variety of genres and also taps into Mexican traditional and popular music. In her songs, she incorporates the indigenous Mexican influences. She has recorded songs in many indigenous languages, such as Mixtec, Zapotec Mayan, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Purepecha, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Purepecha, and Nahuatl. She was raised and born in Oaxaca. She attended the Institute of Arts by Oaxaca for her first education. She briefly studied at the University of Minnesota before deciding to concentrate on her music career. In 1994 she began performing in the Oaxaca traditional music scene. In 1999, Downs came to prominence through her first studio album, La Sandunga, which was a commercial as well as a critical success. She achieved international success in 2001 when she released her debut album Border that exploded on the scene of Mexico as well as Latin America in the early 2000s (decade).
