Mamie Van Doren

 Mamie Van Doren was born Joan Lucille Olander on February 6, 1931 is an American actor, singer and sex icon. She is most likely best known for her performance in the rock and roll the juvenile delinquency exploitation movie Untamed Youth (1957).Van Doren was born on the 6th of February, 1931 in Rowena, South Dakota, the daughter of Warner Carl Olander and Lucille Harriet Bennett. The majority of her ancestry comes from Swedish while the rest are mixed English/German. In 1939, the family relocated to Sioux City, Iowa, and later to Los Angeles during May 1942.In the early part of 1946, Van Doren started serving as an usher in the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. In the next year, she had part in an early TV show. She sang in Ted Fio's band and participated in several beauty contests. She married Jack Newman at 17 and moved to Santa Barbara, California. However, Jack's abusive nature caused the marriage to dissolve quickly. In the summer of 1949, at age 18, she won the titles of Miss Eight Ball and Miss Palm Springs. .
