 Robyn Rihanna FentyNH (/ri'aen@"/ (listen) REE-AN -@;[n 1] born 20 February 1988) is a Barbadian actress, singer and businesswoman. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and was raised there. She was a candidate for Evan Rogers, an American record producer, who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. When she signed to Def Jam in 2005, she soon gained recognition when she released her first two studio albums: Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006) Both of them were inspired by Caribbean music and reached the top ten of the US Billboard 200 chart.Rihanna's third album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), incorporated elements of dance-pop and established her position as a sexual symbol in the music industry. The top charting single "Umbrella" was the single that earned Rihanna her first Grammy Award and catapulted her to international fame. She continued to mix dance, pop, and R&B genres in her subsequent studio albums, Rated R (2009), Loud (2010) Talk That Talk (2011), and Unapologetic (2012), the latter of which was her first Billboard 200 number one.
