Serena Jameka Williams, born on September 26, 1981 was an American professional tennis player. Williams was the world's number. 1 tennis player and is widely considered one of the best. one in singles, according to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for 319 weeks, including a joint-record record 186 consecutive weeks. She also finished as the year-end No. 1 . Five times. The parents Oracene and Richard Williams coached her. She took home 23 Grand Slam singles titles. This is the most she's ever had in the Open Era. The year 1995 was the year she turned a professional and won her first major singles title at US Open 1999. From 2002's French Open to the 2003 Australian Open, she was dominating winning all four major singles titles (each time beating Venus in the final) to complete an non-calendar year Grand Slam and the career Grand Slam, known as the 'Serena Slam'. The following years saw her win two more majors for singles however, she was plagued by injuries and a decline in her performance. In 2007 she began to return to her form, despite the ongoing injuries. 1 singles ranking.
