Julie Newmar (born Julia Chalene Newmeyer, August 16, 1933) is an American dancer, actress, and singerwho has been praised for her various stage screen, television, and stage roles. She is also a writer and designer of lingerie, as well as a real estate mogul. For her portrayal of Katrin Sveg, she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in a Play. She reprised the character in The Marriage-Go-Round in 1961. In the 1960s, she appeared in two seasons of Catwoman in the TV series Batman (1966-1967). Other credits on stage include Ziegfeld Follies (1956) and Lola in Damn Yankees! In 1961, Irma la Douce (1965) in regional productions. Newmar also appeared in the music video of George Michael's 1992 single, "Too Funky", as well as a guest actor in the 1995 film To Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. Her voice-over work includes animated feature films Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016), and Batman vs. Two-Face (2017). In these films she reprised her role of Catwoman 50 years after the television show that she played in the first.
