 Onika Tanya Maraj -Petty (nee Maraj, born December 8 1982), also known as Nicki Minaj (/mI’na:Z/ min–AHZH) is a Trinidadian rapper, singer, and songwriter, who is based in the United States. Her musical range, her animated flow and use of alter egos, accents, and rapping make her unique. Minaj first gained recognition through the release of three mixtapes from 2007 and 2009. Pink Friday (2010) was her debut album that was a top album on the Billboard 200 charts. Its fifth single, "Super Bass", reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and in 2021, it was certified diamond by the RIAA.Minaj's follow-up album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012) focused on the dance music genre and her vocals and reached the top spot in several countries around the world. Its lead track, "Starships", peaked inside the top five in 15 countries. The third album, The Pinkprint (2014) was a deeper look at topics and was a return to hip-hop roots. The second track, "Anaconda", reached the top spot on the Hot 100 and, in 2021, its music video was the first to be uploaded by an individual female rapper to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. The singer released her fourth album, Queen, in 2018 and it spawned the top-ten single "Chun-Li". In 2019 her collaboration with Karol G, "Tusa", became the longest-running single at number one in the Argentina Hot 100 chart. In 2020, Minaj achieved her first two Hot 100 number-one singles, through her remix of Doja Cat's "Say So" and her collaboration with 6ix9ine, "Trollz".
