Stephen King

 Stephen Edwin King, born September 21, 1947 was an American writer of horror and supernatural suspense, fiction, and. King also writes science-fiction and fantasy novels. Described as the "King of Horror" as a play on his surname, and an ode to his status in pop culture. His novels have sold more than 350 million copies, and many of them have been made into television series, films, miniseries, and comic books. King has written 64 novels, which include seven under the pen name Richard Bachman, and five non-fiction titles. He has also written approximately 200 stories for short fiction, the majority of which have been published in book collections.King has been awarded Bram Stoker Awards, World Fantasy Awards and British Fantasy Society Awards. The Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters was presented to him by the National Book Foundation in 2003. He also won the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2004 and the Grand Master Award of the Mystery Writers of America in 2007. He was awarded a National Medal of Arts by the U.S. National Endowment for the Arts in 2015 in recognition of his contribution to literature.
