Steve Martin

 Stephen Glenn Martin was born on August 14, 1945. He is an actor, comedian, and author from the United States. He has been awarded five Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and was also awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 2013. He was also nominated for two Tony Awards for his musical Bright Star in 2016. Among many honors including the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the Kennedy Center Honors and an AFI Life Achievement Award. Martin was ranked as sixth on Comedy Central's list of 100 stand-up comics in 2004. He also won the Kennedy Center Honors, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and an AFI Life Achievement Award. Martin first came to prominence in the early 1960s, as a writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In 1969 Martin was awarded an Primetime Emmy Award for his work, and later as a Saturday Night Live host. Martin's humorous and offbeat routines were staged in front of sold-out theaters during national tours of the 1970s. Since the 1980s, when he been able to retire from stand-up comedy Martin has made a name for himself as an actor, starring in such films as The Jerk (1979)
